sitting looking out my window, breeze dancing through weeds with swirls of dust lifted & circling, wind billowed clouds sweeping across a vivid blue sky. i know there is so much heaviness in the world, so much harm & destruction, & suffering for so many from voices & hands that would pull us into despair. it is true, this world is burning & battered, & crying out for healing & justice. but, i also see beauty & i know there is beauty. i see life & i know there is life. i see love & i know there is love. so i sit here breathing in & i am filled with love. breathing out, i offer that love to the world. it takes an open heart for both.

the myth of going it alone, of rising to the top on one’s own merit without the generosity of others, the generosity of life itself & the presence of love, is just that:   a myth.

may we – especially in this time of the first trillionaire, of billionaires, of governments & whole families consolidating power, wealth, & resources –  awaken to & have the awareness of this fundamental truth of life:   all is interdependent.

when a person or a group of people chooses cruelty & violence as their first & even only option to resolve an “evil” they have named & defined, it tells us a few things about that person or group. first, it tells us that they are living in fear, & perhaps, are deeply wounded. second, it tells us that they are lazy, not willing to engage in the long & patient work of love & peace. third, it tells us that they lack a deeper understanding of life as interdependent, love & relationship as the foundation, union – & reunion – we are seeking, & as the work needed. love is work. so, when we see an administration or a government who attempts to project strength & courage through promotion of violence, we know that they are actually afraid, & that they lack resilience, intention, & the fortitude to pursue genuine peace & a commitment to love. all the more reason why we as individuals, families, & communities must choose to embrace & embody a path of love & genuine peace for a world in need.

in a time when our own government has labeled anyone on the progressive left engaged in protest through speech & action, anyone who protests the consuming brutality of ICE tactics, & attacks on individual minority communities, education, healthcare, & food assistance programs, & the arts, as “Antifa” which is an  abbreviation for antifascist, it seems worthy to understand what fascism is & what it looks like. if our government is asking us to be against those who are against fascism, then we better understand what fascism is & abandon such selective amnesia as to forget that our own ancestors & military fought against fascism in World War II.
