more & more i am convinced that the “narrow gate” mentioned in the book of Matthew within the Bible, is love. if for no other reason than love is the one thing the vast majority of us seem unwilling to choose, embody, practice & do fully without exclusion. we work tirelessly to carve out biases & caveats to loving our neighbor, supported by a myriad of excuses why certain individuals, groups, & categories should be excluded & cast out. it is far easier to name & target scapegoats, than doing the work of love. we fail to see clearly that a love that isn’t inclusive of all, that doesn’t see all as our neighbor, isn’t really love, at least not fully or wholly – or holy. we should ask ourselves, if we can’t recognize love now – in all people, groups, categories that make us uncomfortable or don’t meet our limited & deluded understanding – then how will we recognize love later? all of the caveats we create are constructed & are the stuff of ego, driven by fear, originating in delusion. love is of one piece & love is the way.

love is the way, & may we choose it over & over again for a world in need.
