O that my monk’s robe

were wide enough

to gather up all

the suffering people

in this floating world.

Ryōkan

so much suffering.

some at the hands of injustice, oppression, cruelty, and harm.

some at the hands of their own fear and anger.

all suffering, all in need of liberation.

individual suffering has collective consequence and there is no full awakening without collective awakening.

may we be up to the task.

with strong backs and open hearts, we move forward.
