love is the medicine the world needs. we, each of us, can offer our love to the part of the world within the reach of our words & actions. what a responsibility! what a privilege! may we be instruments of healing for a hurting world. may our love in the form of our words & actions counter & heal the harm being done.
it’s a tough time. it’s a stressful & worrisome time for a great many of us. but there’s still beauty in this world. there are still opportunities to love, to connect & have joy. may each of us in our own way, allow the inner beauty of our joy & our love to shine through. even as we grieve, even as we bear witness, even as we serve & work to bring beneficial change, equity, justice, & peace to a suffering world, we can do so with deep unrelenting joy. it just might be the medicine the world needs to make it through this time.
imagine the desperate condition of the hearts of those who are working tirelessly to financially restrict access to healthcare & withhold available funds for food assistance for the hungry, the poor, the disabled, & the elderly.
a path inconsistent w/ the name of Jesus they so often push past their lips…or frankly, w/ just being a decent human. it is monstrous to purposefully starve people regardless of the reason.
may the hearts of those w/ power open & may they rediscover their humanity.
friends ~ i post a lot about what is going on. i think it’s necessary to bear witness & shine light on harm being done, especially cruelty from ICE (or whomever the masked militarized forces are). i think we have a tough road ahead & things will get worse before better, BUT i also have immense hope. not naive hope, but genuine hope built on what everyday people are doing – taking videos, speaking out & showing up. No Kings was immensely inspiring. 7 million people from small rural towns to the largest metropolitan cities across our country showed up peacefully in solidarity for democracy. this past Tuesday’s elections showed whether in state-wide races in blue & purple states, or local elections in red states, that a majority of us are not okay w/ the destruction we are seeing in our economy, institutions, & communities. this is buoying for morale. i think it will also lead to desperate measures & an attack on midterm elections, knowing that the populace is not in line w/ this Admin. BUT my hope remains, because i’m reminded that hope is manifest through the work of people who refuse to stop loving, who refuse to be apathetic & indifferent to harm. may the power of our love thrive & may our democracy prevail.
with the abundance of cruelty, aggression & violence, along with the lack of love we are currently seeing, it seems many people are living in hell & creating hell for others. one might go so far as to say hell has frozen over…
may the ice be thawed by the warmth of our open, tender, empathetic hearts & the fierce compassion of our words & action.
there’s a lot of movement right now. some of it organic, some of it manufactured, some of it worthy of attention, some of it distraction.
in any case, it seems to me, our role as spiritual seekers & practitioners, is to stay steady with our hearts open, consistently coming back to the current moment – to our breath, to presence – in union with & committed to the path of love, embodying love, serving love, for a world in need.
where there is cruelty, where there is harm & destruction, we must open our heart to it & put our love into fierce compassionate action to lessen & end harm where we can, & promote a healing path that is founded upon our interdependence, equity, & justice as much as is in our power to do so.
