it is your love, our love, that inspires hope & courage within us to act in ways that heal, transform, create, & shine light in this world when all else may seem dark & hopeless.
we must not abandon our love, rather we must lean into it, despite whatever may appear contrary.
when oppressive powers appear to have the upper hand, it is easy to succumb to numbness, or cynicism, or rage. but this is what they want, to assume control by breaking us down, to cause us to forget who we are in love. it’s insidious really, but also so fragile, weak, & afraid. their power is desperate & depends on the acquiescence of others. fascism‘s appetite is insatiable & it will continue to take & attempt to consume, but we don’t have to offer up our minds or our hearts. our love, our being made of love, is something no power can take. it’s our divine & sacred right. it is our very own power we can connect to anytime we choose to, through the love of our families & friends, nature, our creativity & art, our jobs & careers, through the joy & warmth these areas of life & relationships bring to our hearts, reminding us of what is true, good, & lasting in & beyond this moment.
perhaps those in power have forgotten, maybe even lost who they are, bobbing around in their delusion, greed, & hatred. let us not lose ourselves. love the Light of Love, dear friends. harbor no darkness.
for some the phrase “Be Love” may seem a bit naive or over sentimental, but this is a misunderstanding of love. love is not primarily a feeling, like affection or attraction, or a sense of liking something or someone. love is a choice, a decision we make to prioritize the well-being of others without exclusion, in recognition of our interdependent relationship to them & to all life. it is a commitment to a life of non-harming. what could be more courageous, more intentional, more work oriented than that? it’s a practice that is relatively unending in its application. life will always give us more opportunity to expand our heart & its capacity to love, challenging our biases & efforts to make solid & fixed what is movement – what we can’t hold onto. loving is allowing life.
the far easier path, though always eventually unsuccessful, is to try to live by force & control. but this only leads to harm, destruction, & suffering. so the antidote in a time when those in power live by force & attempt at control, causing immense harm & destruction through their cruelty, is to choose love, to be love for a world in need.
at the same time, interestingly, love is who we are at our core, so when we choose to love, to be love, we are choosing to come back to our original nature before delusion, before fear, greed, & aggression. we are realigning with & affirming life. it is a choice toward harmony, rather than the choice of domination, made by some, which results in chaos & destruction.
may we choose to be love in this time as an antidote to forces of domination & chaos.
“I know of no other advice than this: Go within and scale the depths of your being from which your very life springs forth.”
~ RainerMaria Rilke
each of us in this moment, have both the responsibility & the opportunity to look deep within our own hearts to see what matters most. what draws us closer love, to alignment with what is sacred, to what is beneficial for all life? in what ways can we train our minds & open our hearts to be more receptive & participatory to the flow of life? what reminds us of our interdependence in deep connection to nature in all life?
these are the spaces where we should invest our energy & time, not just for our benefit, but for the benefit of all, for the world. meeting with equal, if not greater measure: light to the dark, union to the division, healing to the harm & destruction, empathy & compassion to the indifference, & love to the hate.
