i’m not surprised at the Trump administration’s continued attacks on the trans community whether it be by restricting & prohibiting needed healthcare or taking the word “trans” out of federal documents, off of federal websites & National Park signage, but i have to admit i am surprised at how quickly people & organizations/institutions are to acquiesce to such cruelty in the face of so much history that shows where this type of targeting could be headed.

you don’t have to understand a trans person’s experience to have empathy, to be kind, to know that targeting a group of people, marginalizing them, trying to erase them from existence is cruel & immoral. 

there is no neutrality on this. 

none. 

we are either on the side of love & human rights, or we are not.

may hearts open, may awareness, & wisdom arise.

please don’t sit this one out. please do something that IS love this day. every word, every action is an opportunity, a privilege to be love in this world, to be a force for healing & hope, for goodness, for light during this time. whether it is protesting & marching, calling our reps, creating art, posting content, connecting one on one or speaking in groups, or simply being a presence of open-heartedness, of bearing witness & listening, of shifting the energy around us to calm steadiness & peace, we have power & we are being called to use it wisely in this time.

may hearts open, may wisdom arise.

our open hearts are our strength & the beginning of our work to be instruments of empathy, tenderness, compassion – of healing, of love.

rather than agents of chaos, harm, & destruction.

what energy are you currently offering this world? how do you want your life to be remembered? what imprint shall you leave? 

align with love, not with harm.

people devoted to democracy & the common good.

people who haven’t given up on the pursuit of equity & justice, on ever opening the to full inclusivity of all who have been marginalized, so everyone has a seat at the table.

…doing all of this, committed to all of this, even in the face of those who would destroy everything to gain & keep power.

may we, also, be such people in this time. in doing so, we are participating in hope, & with hope, a hope centered in love & community, all things are possible.
