what an interesting week, spiritually speaking! the Lunar New Year & Ramadan began yesterday, & now the beginning of Lent today with Ash Wednesday. these observances are invitations to journey inward & deep, to let go of all that is unnecessary, surrender to something more vast, luminous, & loving than the smallness we usually use to define our reality, & to come to know who we truly are. with Lent we have 40 days, mirroring the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert, a number that is repeated multiple times in the stories/journeys found in the Hebrew & New Testament scriptures. maybe it is the amount of time needed to go deep, to allow space for new life & insight, to shed old patterns & create new, to descent & then ascent.

whatever the case & in whatever way we may observe, may we find time & space to encounter the sacred, to center in on what matters, & to expand our capacity of heart to love a world in need.
