New Year’s Eve provides an auspicious opportunity to reflect on the previous year & prepare ourselves for the year that is beginning & i think we shouldn’t shy away from the deep questions. what connects me to others, to their joy, to their suffering? what & who invites my heart to open wider & wider to the world & life around me? how am i using my time? am i using the time i have to embody love, to shine light into the dark places in this world? who have i excluded from my love, from the tenderness & generosity of my heart? who have i not seen as my neighbor?who have i cast out? what can i do to bring them back in, to remind them that their lives are sacred, worthy, & cherished? no one can answer these questions for us. only we can answer this for ourselves. we are responsible & accountable for the words & actions we birth into this world. what world do we want to help create in the year to come? please allow & gift yourself some time today to sit somewhere quiet & look inward to the deep spaces of your heart. it is where the past is healed & reconciled, & seeds for the future are planted.
