friends ~ i post a lot about what is going on. i think it’s necessary to bear witness & shine light on harm being done, especially cruelty from ICE (or whomever the masked militarized forces are). i think we have a tough road ahead & things will get worse before better, BUT i also have immense hope. not naive hope, but genuine hope built on what everyday people are doing – taking videos, speaking out & showing up. No Kings was immensely inspiring. 7 million people from small rural towns to the largest metropolitan cities across our country showed up peacefully in solidarity for democracy. this past Tuesday’s elections showed whether in state-wide races in blue & purple states, or local elections in red states, that a majority of us are not okay w/ the destruction we are seeing in our economy, institutions, & communities. this is buoying for morale. i think it will also lead to desperate measures & an attack on midterm elections, knowing that the populace is not in line w/ this Admin. BUT my hope remains, because i’m reminded that hope is manifest through the work of people who refuse to stop loving, who refuse to be apathetic & indifferent to harm. may the power of our love thrive & may our democracy prevail.
